Summer Ops 3 - Shape Files

Before survey crews enter the field, Andrew Austin, our Head of Silviculture, reviews remote sensing data alongside conventional silviculture information to support survey planning.

LiDAR, orthophotography, multispectral imagery, and other available datasets are used to identify stand variability, access routes, terrain challenges, regeneration patterns, and areas that may require additional sampling. These datasets help optimize survey efficiency while maintaining compliance with provincial survey standards.

Field preparation follows with crew scheduling, travel planning, accommodations, safety planning, equipment preparation, GNSS receiver configuration, technician training, startup meetings with clients, and standardized quality control procedures. Drone deployment is also coordinated where applicable.

This planning helps ensure each project is prepared before field data collection begins.
