case Studies
Reforestation is hard. Every site contends with fire, drought, soil conditions and predation. Variables shift year to year. Since 2020, we've seeded burned and disturbed boreal forest by drone, then returned later to measure outcomes. These case studies showcase that work.
We measure outcomes in two ways. In year one, we track germination at flagged permanent plots. In year two, we estimate stocking / stems per hectare (SPH) using circular plots, or flag-transect estimates. Success means reaching the target SPH. A site is on track when stocking approaches or exceeds its SPH target.
We report the achieved number against the target either way. We don't claim nature's work as our own. Where seedlings and natural regeneration can't be cleanly separated, we say so, and we screen high-regen areas out of our seeded blocks before planting.
Many innovators only publish their best outcomes. We think that's wrong. Any new technology earns trust through transparency.
