Spring Ops 4 (Manufacturing) - Seed Pods are calibrated and mass produced
Pod manufacturing at Flash Forest runs out of our new facility in Calgary. Happy's production planning starts well before a single pod ships. He works backwards from the planting date through every upstream dependency such as stratification timeline, raw materials delivery, production cycles, and when the actual aerial seeding field work starts.
Further, Flash Forest often plant in very remote locations, adding logistical complexity. Pods have to reach the field a day or two before planting begins and be safely stored in a temperature controlled environment.
Seed stratification timing is especially critical to pod production. Different species require different stratification periods, and manufacturing cycles are times precisely to each batch completing it’s stratification process.
Seeding rate is set per project: single or double seeding depending on the project. Before every production run, Happy calibrates the machines for the project's seeding rate, confirms each station is picking up the correct seed count.
This season also included relocating the entire manufacturing operation from Mississauga to Calgary where Happy manages all manufacturing, logistics, equipment management, materials, and production cycles ahead of busy planting season.
