Flash Forest Partner with University of Toronto

Flash Forest is honoured to partner with the University of Toronto on the planting of 68,345 trees in the Assinica Wildlife Reserve in northern Quebec. The site sits on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Oujé-Bougoumou Cree First Nation and was burned during the 2023 wildfire season.

The project consisted of the aerial deployment of seedpods directly into the burned terrain. Each pod was manufactured in Canada with the nutrients and water retention properties needed to support the seedling through its first two years.

"The experience we had with Flash Forest, it was a wonderful experience." says Jimmy Lord, director of the Assinica Wildlife Reserve and member of the Oujé-Bougoumou Cree First Nation. "It feels positive to engage with the technology. I think it's going to facilitate the new generation to learn these new technologies.

"Projected impact over the next 100 years: 33,000 tonnes of CO2 captured and eliminated, along with soil stabilization, caribou and bald eagle habitat restoration, and improved air quality.
